Pinecrest Gardens, formerly the home of Parrot Jungle, is one of the best examples of South Florida gardens and ecology. Located on a oolitic limestone ridge, through which a natural creek still flows, the flora is a showcase of our tropical hammock environment and diversity of vegetation. Primarily a daytime destination, the Village of Pinecrest sought to add lighting to the Gardens, to allow for the planning of evening events. The challenge was to sensitively design site lighting to enhance the garden’s vegetation and open spaces without imposing on the surrounding neighborhood residents.
