The City of North Miami under an ARRA project decided to replace and repair the existing sidewalks along 125th Street. Savino & Miller Design Studio proposed to the City the replacement of the existing brick sidewalks on concrete slabs in concrete pavers on sand. This will give not only more flexibility in the future (if work needs to be done in utilities, etc.) but also assist with drainage. Additionally, SMDS proposed a pattern that would help in creating an identity to the Street. The master plan included a reconfiguration of the parking area to add large trees in occasional bulb-outs and the replacement of the asphalt with pervious pavers to increase drainage and at the same time add shade and character to the street. Triple trunk palms were proposed in newly spaced planters along the sidewalks.
